The objective of Deenabandhu TRC is to facilitate the government schools to move from “rote learning” to “experiential learning”. It envisions schools where experiential and activity-based education becomes the desired culture of teaching and learning than mere rote learning. The organisation’s theory of change focuses on working long-term with teachers, providing them sustained support through teaching-learning materials and other resources, and designing engaging learning experiences for children. Working closely in the long-term will pave the way for habit formation, and habit sustained for a long time will lead to the engraving of culture. The culture is not individual dependent but involves a critical minimum number of individuals in a given area of operation. Hence, it is desirable that a large section of the teaching fraternity of a certain geographical area are involved to ensure that a desired model of teaching becomes the desired culture of teaching and learning. This change becomes an epicentre from where the ripples of desirable culture permeates to neighbouring areas.
